John Chet A. Campbell, age 88, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh, due to complications of cancer.
He was born April 18, 1930, in Kenosha, WI, to John Al, Sr. and Rachel C. Campbell; the fourth of ten siblings. He grew up in Ripon, graduating from Ripon High School in 1948. Chet worked for and retired from the Wisconsin National Guard as a full time Administrative Assistant. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing; with expeditions to Northern Wisconsin, Canada, North Dakota and Wyoming. But his favorite place was the cottage on Green Lake.
Survivors include his three sisters, Constance (John) Marabella, Bernadette Weiske and Catherine "Tinka" Treptow; three brothers, Gerald (Donna), William (Joanne) and Michael (Mary Pat). In addition to his siblings, he was Uncle Chet to many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Mary Lois (James) Kuehn, Patricia (James) Seidl and Rachel (Robert) Espinosa and a brother-in-law, Paul Weiske.
Visitation for Chet will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018, from 3 4:00 pm at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 228 Blossom St., Ripon, WI 54971.
Memorial Mass for Chet will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at 4:00 pm at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Ripon with Reverend Robert A. Fictum officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Ripon with Full Military Honors. A memorial is being established in his name.
