John C. Wilson, age 92, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at his home with his family by his side.
John was born on June 24, 1933 in Cleveland, OH, son of Walter and Stella (Tomczak) Wisniewski. He graduated from Cathedral Latin High School. He earned bachelor’s degrees from Ohio University in Athens, OH, and served our country in the U.S. Army. On November 27, 1954, he married Beverly Wendland in Cleveland, OH. John worked as a chemical engineer for Standard Oil, and retired after directing research for two decades at Kimberly-Clark. John and Beverly were devoted members of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake, as well as Sacred Heart in Punta Gorda, FL, where they spent their winters. In his free time, John enjoyed all things science related, biking, swimming, music, reading, writing his memoirs, golfing, fishing, boating, sailing, and working on stained glass and carpentry projects.
John is survived by his children, Linda (James) Hansen of Madison, WI, Laura Wilson of Washington D.C., John D. (Virginia) Wilson of Verona, WI, Paul Wilson of Menasha, WI, and Thomas (Kimberly) Wilson of Dexter, MI; grandchildren, Benjamin Wilson of Seattle, WA, Julia Wilson also of Seattle, WA, Nathaniel Wilson of New York, NY, Rebecca (David) Wilson Lombardo of Eugene, OR, Douglas Wilson of Denver, CO, and Claire Wilson of Pittsburgh, PA; and a brother, Leon (Annamae) Wilson of Chesterland, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Stella Wisniewski; his wife, Beverly Wilson; and a sister, Estelle (Dominic) Brunozzi.
A funeral mass for John will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 530 Ruth St., Green Lake, WI 54941, with Msgr. James Gunn officiating.
