Joann May Essenberg, age 86, of Germantown, WI, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015, at Community Memorial Hospital in Menominee Falls, WI.
She was born, May 5, 1929, in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Calvin and Katherine (Harms) Reifsnyder. She graduated from North Division High School. On March 11, 1950 Joann married Ray Essenberg at St. John deNepomuc Church. She was a member of The Federated Church of Green Lake, Christian Mothers, and the Humane Society of the United States. Joann was also a Girl Scout Leader.
Survivers include her; son, James R. Essenberg of Tigard, OR; daughter, Mary Jo (Duane) Thompson of Richfield, WI, sister, Virginia Ruck of Wawatosa, WI; nieces, Suzann Maas of Madison, WI, and Linda (John) Rick of Milwaukee, WI, and many other relatives and good friends. Joann was preceded in death by her parents Calvin Reifsnyder and Katherine Metz; husband, Ray Essenberg; sisters, Katherine Jenette Reifsnyder and Bernice Pollnow; sister-in-law Shirley Mass and brothers-in-law, Russell Mass and Ralph Ruck.
Visitation for Joann May Essenberg will be held on Friday, July 24, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. at The Federated Church of Green Lake, 489 Scott St. Green Lake, WI, 54941.
Funeral Service for Joann May Essenberg will be held on Friday, July 24, 2015, at 12:00 p.m. at The Federated Church of Green Lake in Green Lake. Reverend Karen Gygax-Rodriguez will officiate. Inurnment will be held at Dartford Cemetery in the City of Green Lake at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the Humane Animal Welfare Society, HAWS, at P.O. Box 834 Waukesha, WI 53188.
