Joan F. Remmel

Joan Faye Remmel, age 86, of Ripon, WI, formerly of West Bend and Milwaukee, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Lakeshore Manor in Oshkosh, WI.

Joan was born on February 3, 1938 to Sylvester and Pearl (Bock) Remmel in Milwaukee, WI. She graduated from Rufus King High School then went on to acquire a degree in Physical Education from UW-Lacrosse. She taught in Mayville and at Hamilton Sussex High School. Joan  was a successful volleyball coach; her team had many winning years. She retired in 1993 and moved to Ripon in January 2019. 

Joan became a talented wood carver in her retirement and had a knack for art. She generously donated her carvings to the Ronald McDonald House. She volunteered at the Washington County Salvation Army and at the Lac Lawrann Conservancy in West Bend.  

Joan is survived by her siblings, Wayne (Debbie) Remmel and Susan (Jack) Kober; nieces, Penny, Kandy, Heidi, Pam and Lori; nephew, Scott; great nieces, Jackie, Alexandria, Taylor, Venessa, Kasie, Sarah and Sophia; great nephews, Nicholas, Nick, Andrew, Austin and Steven; and her best friend since college, Margaret “Mugs” Ann Boline. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Pearl Remmel; and step-mom, Edla Remmel.

A funeral service for Joan will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Little Chapel of Flowers located in the Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield, WI 53005. Interment will follow at 12:00 pm at the Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, WI.
