Joan Elizabeth Bischoff, age 88, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at Prairie Place in Ripon.
Joan was born February 21, 1932, in Louisville, KY, the daughter of Edmund and Elizabeth (Hoefler) Burrington, Sr. She graduated from high school in Baraboo, WI. On February 21, 1952, Joan married Gordon A. Bischoff Sr. She worked as a receptionist at a hair salon but her most important job was being a mom, wife and grandmother. In her earlier years, she enjoyed swimming, cooking and entertaining. Joan truly enjoyed visiting with people. She was a member at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon.
Survivors include her son, Gordon A. (Alice Hampton) Bischoff, Jr. of Eau Claire, WI; her daughter, Heidi (Kent) Schwanke of Ripon, WI; grandchildren, Elliot (Melissa) Ladwig of Eugene, OR, Haley (Eric) Richter of Fond du Lac, WI and Katelyn Aumann of Ripon, WI; great grandchildren, Ethan and Rylee Ladwig of Eugene, OR, Payton and Kaden Aumann and Kaliah Sparks all of Ripon, WI and her long-time friend, Donna Long of Ripon, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gordon Bischoff, Sr.; brother, Edmund Burrington, Jr.; in-laws, Walter and Gladys Bischoff and brother-in-law, Wayne Bischoff.
A private family memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at 11:00 am at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon with Reverend Dr. Kevin P. Mundell officiating. A memorial is being established in her name.
