Jean Schlaack Keith, age 92, formerly of Ripon, WI, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017, at the HCR Manorcare in Fond du Lac, WI.
Jean was born August 12, 1925, at the Schlaack Family Homestead in Pickett, to William and Johanna (Kroll) Schlaack. Jean attended Pickett Memorial Grade School, Ripon High School, and Oshkosh Business College. She was Administrative Assistant to Extension Service, Winnebago County for 13 years. In November of 1956, she became Executive Secretary to the President of Ripon College, and later Administrative Assistant serving under President Fred Pinkham, Bernard Adams, and William Stott. She retired September 1987, for a total of 31 years. On October 9, 1954, she married Leonard Keith at Mt. Zion parsonage, in Ripon. Leonard preceded her in death on April 25, 2003.
Jean was a member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ripon Science Club, Ripon Historical Society, Wisconsin Historical Society, Ripon College Retirees, 25 year Professional Secretaries International, AARP, and charter member of National WWII Memorial.
Survivors include her brother-in-law, Ted (Lorraine) Keith of Hales Corners and nieces and nephews, Bernadine (Fred) Loker of Winneconne, Sharon Rosenau of Oshkosh, WI, John Lieske of Oshkosh, Gary (Cheri) Lieske, James (Lynnette) Lieske, Wayne (Pat) Albright and Carol (Randy) Cluppert all of Ripon, Karen (John) Rice and Cindy (Tom) Conlin of Brookfield, and Bradley (Kathy) Keith of Hudson; 23 great nieces and nephews and 19 great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Johanna Schlaack; in-laws, Walter and Mary Keith; husband, Leonard; brother, Wilbert Schlaack and his wife, Angeline and second wife, Edith; her sisters, twins, Doris (Norman) Albright and Dorothy (Robert) Lieske and her twin, Jeanette who entered God’s home in January of 1926 and nephew, Jerry Schlaack.
Visitation for Jean will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017, from 9 – 11:00 am at Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 320 Mt. Zion Dr., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral Service for Jean will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017, at 11:00 am at Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon, with Reverend Michael Sheppard officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of the Cross Cemetery in Ripon. Memorials may be directed to the Keith Scholarship at Ripon College, P.O. Box 248, Ripon, WI 54971, or Mt.
