James Allen Wahoske, age 80, passed away peacefully at his home in Ripon, WI, on Friday, December 12, 2014.
He was born in Ripon on September 18, 1934 to Albert and Lucille (Fochs). Jim graduated from Ripon High School then served his country in the United States Air Force. After completing his military service he returned to Ripon where he met Harriet Wilke and married in 1958.
Jim spent his entire career working at Speed Queen, starting in the shipping department and retiring 37 years later as an industrial engineer. Throughout his career, he enjoyed the camaraderie of his co-workers as a frequent member of the company golf and bowling leagues.
After retiring in 1995, he and his buddies, Milt Morris, Don Lueptow, Lyle Sager and Dick Mucks, enjoyed their weekly golf games. Finding golf courses with the best senior discount was given the same reverence as posting that days low score or taking home the biggest pile of quarters from the post golf dice game. Outside of golf, Jim enjoyed traveling, cooking, and spending time with his grandchildren. His family will especially miss eating his deep-dish pizza and homemade caramel corn. He had a fascination with personal computers, starting with the TI-99/4A purchased in 1981 to the iPad he used to watch classic movies on Netflix during the last week of his life. He also had the uncanny ability to make and repair pretty much anything, and he had the tools to prove it.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet, of Ripon, WI; son Matt (Laura Omdahl) Wahoske, children Ryanne Graham, Bryce Graham, and Annika Wahoske, of Waunakee, WI; son Lt Col Ted (Anna) Wahoske, USAF, children Jake Geiger, Jessica Geiger, Julianna Laire, and James Wahoske, of Manassas, VA; daughter Jennifer (Greg) Myszkowski, M.D., children Nina and Lucas, of Richland Center, WI; son David Wahoske at home; and son Eric (Laurita) Wahoske, children Alina and Owen, of Claremont, CA. He is survived by his sisters Delores Mattern of Highland Ranch, CO and Barbara Troudt of Ripon, WI. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Dorothy Troester, Rosemary Ustruck, and Betty Burton.
