John Franklyn (Frank) Warnke, age 78, of Princeton, died February 16 , 2007, at his home.
Frank was born on December 31, 1928, in Princeton, Son of Orlo and Edna (Young) Warnke. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1946, and is a graduate of Concordia College in River Falls, IL. Frank taught school in Adell, WI and Oconomowoc, WI, and was also a principal at Immanuel Lutheran in Milwaukee, WI. On June 12, 1955, Frank married Lois Grunewald in Oconomowoc, WI. In 1962 Frank moved his family back to his home town of Princeton, WI to run the family lumber business which had been in the family since 1871. Frank and Lois owned and operated JF Warnke and Sons Building Center until they retired and sold the business to Stock Lumber. After retiring from the lumber business, Frank enjoyed substitute teaching at the Princeton High School. He had a love for the English language and often found himself tutoring others. Frank was a long-time member of Rotary International and was recognized for 42 years of service in 2005. Frank was also instrumental in the Rotary student exchange program and hosted 10 international students from Brazil, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Mexico, Philippines, France and Bolivia.
Survivors include 5 children; Pam (Bill) Schmidt and Denise (Dan) Graetz both of Princeton, WI, Tim (Sue) Warnke of Menomonee Falls, WI, Beth (Dan) Dean of Omaha, NE, and Jon (Karla) Warnke of Wausau, WI. 14 grandchildren; Ben (Annie), Ernie (Randi), Chris and Steven Schmidt, Danna (Kurt) Hibbard, Nathan Graetz, Lauren, Emily and Jonathan Warnke, Bradley, Samuel and Jacob Dean, and Jacob and Kelsey Warnke. 1 great grandson; Issac Hibbard, 2 sisters; Florence Wall of West Allis, WI, and Ruth Heggen of Hot Springs Village, AR.
Visitation for John Frank Warnke will be held on Monday, February 19, 2007, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Princeton.
A Memorial Service for John Frank Warnke will be held on Monday, February 19, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Princeton with Pastor Robert Busse officiating. A scholarship fund is being established in memory of J.F. Warnke to recognize outstanding academic and leadership performance for graduating high school seniors at Princeton High School who elect to pursue a 4-year bachelors degree. The family requests that all donations be made to the J.F. Warnke Memorial Scholarship Fund (in care of Lois Warnke) in lieu of flowers.
