Irene Semenske, age 86, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013, at Hope Health and Rehab in Lomira, WI.
Irene was born on June 6, 1926, in Windsor, CO, the daughter of Henry and Catherine (Aab) Steinbrecher. She graduated from Custer High School in Milwaukee, WI. On June 22, 1947, Irene married Reverend Elmer Semenske at North Trinity Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. She worked in the Time Loan Credit Department while in Milwaukee and also worked as a receptionist for Dr. Kurths dental office. Irene was an active member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Ripon. She volunteered with the Ladies Aid, sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School for close to 25 years. Irene was currently a member of St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lomira.
Survivors include two sons, Paul (Heidi) Semenske of Ripon, WI and Reverend Douglas (Ann) Semenske of LaGrange Park, IL; one daughter, Laurel (William) Behm of Lomira, WI; six grandchildren, Adrian (fiancé, Candi) Semenske of Ripon, WI, Angelica Stahl of Ripon, WI, Brett (Anne) Semenske of Brookfield, IL, Kristy (Douglas) Phillips of Gilbert, AZ, Kari (Corey) Pieper of Fond du Lac, WI and Katie (Samuel) Floyd of Phoenix, AZ; five great-grandchildren, Molly and Joshua Semenske of Brookfield, IL, Jacob Phillips of Gilbert, AZ and Abigail and Collin Pieper of Fond du Lac, WI; sister, Wilma Heeter and two brothers, Donald (Patricia) Steinbrecher and Edwin (Mary) Steinbrecher. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband and grandson, Aaron Semenske.
Visitation for Irene will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, from 9 11:00 am at Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 320 Mt. Zion Dr., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral service for Irene will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at 11:00 am at Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon. Pastor Dennis Meier and Pastor Matt Kuske will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon. Memorials may be directed to Aaron Semenske Scholarship Foundation, 3310 Park Avenue, Brookfield, IL 60513-1326.
