Irene Norris

Irene Bernice Frei Norris, age 91, of American House in Ripon, died Saturday, May 27, 2000, at Berlin Memorial Hospital.

Irene was born January 14, 1909, in Fairwater, the daughter of Louise and Ferdinand Frei. She graduated from Brandon High School and Oshkosh Business School. She married Harold A. Norris on August 21, 1931, who preceded her in death in 1964. During her life she lived in Brandon, Portage, Waupun, Albuquerque, NM and Ripon. She worked as a legal secretary and accountant while she raised her family. When she returned from Albuquerque, she worked as a house mother at Ripon College. During her later years, she was very active and enjoyed greeting customers at her son’s business, Jerry’s Wood Shed, where she came daily until the day before her hospitalization.

She is survived by a daughter, Shirley (Wayne) Cyrus of Albuquerque, NM and a son, Jerry (Gloria) Norris of Green Lake. Also survived by six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings.

Friends may call on Monday, May 29, 2000, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Funeral services will be at 6:00 pm Monday, May 29, 2000, at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Mose of Mount Zion Lutheran Church of Ripon officiating. Interment will be in Fairwater Cemetery in Fairwater. A memorial has been established.
