Howard Leu, age 87, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at Fountain View Care Center in Ripon with his family by his side.
Howard was born on June 22, 1925, in Ripon, the son of Arthur and Elda (Hammerling) Leu. He graduated from Ripon High School and then went to serve our country in the United States Army in WWII from 1943 1946. On May 24, 1952, Howard married Lillian Kosanke in Ripon. He started out working at Eckstein Plumbing and Heating as the shop manager and eventually owned the company. Howard was a founding member of Ripon Lions Club, V.F.W. Schultz-Klemp-Wentland Post #5278 and Our Saviours United Church of Christ in Ripon. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing with family and friends.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan (Chuck) Cooper of Eagan, MN; three grandchildren, Siegfred Leu of San Francisco, CA, Holly Cooper of Denver, CO and Robert Cooper of Denver, CO; one sister, Nina (Eugene) Zepp of Grass Valley, CA and many loving nieces and nephews. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillian; son, Lynn; two brothers, Arthur and Robert and one sister, Joyce.
Visitation for Howard will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013, from 4 7:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971 and again on Friday, January 18, 2013, from 10 11:00 am at Our Saviours United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral service for Howard will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013, at 11:00 am at Our Saviours United Church of Christ in Ripon. Pastor Gerald Schrankler will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon with Full Military Honors. Memorials may be directed to Our Saviours United Church of Christ.
