Howard E. Hansen "Chowie," 65, of Ripon, WI died unexpectedly on September 6th, 2023. He was born on July 9th, 1958 to Frank and Beverly (Batson) Hansen.
Howard is survived by his wife, Jane; sons, Casey and Terry "Bear" (Jamie); granddaughters, Briar and Huntley; and his faithful dog, Belle. He is also survived by his sister, Barb O'Neil; brothers, Jim (Michel) Hansen and Brian (Emily) Hansen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Upon graduation from Ripon Senior High School in 1976, Howard received his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Suomi College in Hancock, MI. It was there he met Jane Veeser. They married on July 26th, 1980 and returned to Ripon to raise a family of two boys and several dogs.
Howard coached his most beloved sport, baseball. He also coached wrestling and other community youth sports. He was an advocate for all community activities. He was known as Coach Howie, “Chowie” for short.
He established Imagineers in 1991, creating custom screen printing and digital embroidery. Many local area businesses, organizations, clubs, school/college logos were designed by Howard.
Preceding him in death are his grandmothers, Agnes Hansen and Agnes Batson; his parents, Frank and Beverly Hansen; sister, Lois Murphy; and brothers-in-law, Paul Murphy and Jay O’Neil.
Visitation for Howard will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 2:00 - 7:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr, Ripon, WI 54971, and again from 9:00 - 11:00 am on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Our Saviour's United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral service for Howard will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon. A livestream of Howard's funeral service may be viewed at 11:00 am by clicking the link below. Cremation and inurnment will take place at a later date.
The family would like to honor his memory by having people wear sports or Disney attire. Character costumes are accepted as well. He requested no formal attire.
