Herbert W. Jorgensen, age 84, of Green Lake, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 17, 2018 doing what he enjoyed most, hunting on his land in Poy Sippi with his brother, grandson and son-in-law.
Herb was born on November 18, 1933 in Poy Sippi, WI, the son of Thomas and Alice (Nipko) Jorgensen. He graduated from Ripon High School in 1951 and went on to Dana College in Blair, NE where he graduated in 1956 with a business degree. In January of 1956, he married Carol Ann Nielsen in Chicago. Herb then moved back to Ripon and rejoined the family business, R-Line Foods until he retired in 1991. Upon retirement he obtained his private pilot's license, bought an airplane, and became a very proud EAA volunteer and Young Eagles Pilot. He loved to travel with his wife, especially to Denmark, where he cherished his Danish heritage. Over the years they had visited 30 different countries and been on 35 cruises. He also looked forward to his winters with Carol at their condo in Naples, FL. Herb was on numerous boards, he was a past interim president of Horicon Bank, and was also co-owner of Century 21 in the Green Lake area. He enjoyed computers, food and friends, wine making, and was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting and fishing. He made friends wherever he went. Herb was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon.
Herb is survived by his daughters, Patti (Maria Wierichs) Jorgensen of Menasha, WI and Beth (Steve) Heng of Appleton, WI; grandchildren, Katie (Jimmy) Dahm of Chicago, IL, Garrett Heng, and Sarah Heng, both of Milwaukee, WI; Brian (Amy) Lowe and family of Kearney, NE; and two great-grandchildren, Charlie Dahm and Graham Heng; a brother, Don (Joyce) Jorgensen of Ripon, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jorgensen and his parents, Thomas and Alice Jorgensen.
Visitation for Herb will be held from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 500 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI, 54971.
A Memorial Service for Herb will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Messiah Lutheran Church, with Reverend Bryan Fritsch officiating. Inurnment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon at a later date. A memorial in his name is being established.
