Henry Behrendt

June 6, 1929 — June 15, 2018

Henry (Henryk) N. Behrendt, age 89, of Ripon, WI, died on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Whispering Pines Nursing Home.

Henry was born June 6, 1929, in Danzig-Langfuhr, Poland. He was the son of Erwin and Irena Behrendt. Henry arrived in the United States in 1951, traveling without family or knowing the English language. He married his late wife, Edith (Bloecks) Behrendt, in Chicago on May 11, 1957. Together they had three daughters: Irene (Steve) Kutz of Princeton, WI, Karen (George) Yagler of Waupun, WI, and Amy (Pat) Wollerman of Oshkosh. Before retiring in 1991, he worked at Speed Queen in Ripon for 23 years. He also worked at the Ripon Post Office as a custodian. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church (formerly St. Patrick's Parish) in Ripon.

Henry loved working with his hands and his favorite place to do that was at the cottage. There he enjoyed fishing, tinkering with everything, swimming, and relaxing with a Point beer on the pontoon boat at the end of the day. Henry valued his relationship with his beloved wife, Edith. They worked together side by side to accomplish everything that was important to them. They were committed to giving their children a better life than they had and they succeeded.

Henry is survived by his three daughters; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Brandon Yagler, Lisa (Kutz) Paolasini mother of Jack and Mason, Aaron Kutz married to Kelly, and father of Bentley and Brecken; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Leo married to Karin Behrendt, and George Behrendt.
