Helen H. Ptacek, age 95, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017, at Prairie Place surrounded by her family.
Helen was born October 9, 1921, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Lundgren) Hennings. She attended River Falls State Teacher College, and went on to become a teacher, co-owner and operator of Ptaceks Red Owl grocery store in Green Lake, WI, Clerk of Courts for Green Lake County for 12 years, and a teachers aide at Ripon Middle School. On February 13, 1942, she married Francis J. Ptacek in Prescott, WI, who passed away in 2016. Helen was a devoted and loving mother, and very active in the Green Lake community. As an elected official she was very involved in the Green Lake County Republican Party. She will be remembered for her warmth, humor, and lively hospitality. Friends were always welcome in her home, especially at the cocktail hour. Helen was an excellent cook, and her family treasures her delicious recipes.
Helen is survived by her children, James (Elvira) Ptacek of Marietta, GA, Gerald (Lisa) Ptacek of Racine, WI, Betsy (Lou Dobrydnia) Ptacek of Peoria, IL; grandchildren, Melissa Ptacek of Chicago, IL, James (Adrienne) Ptacek and Jill (Dar) Ptacek of Denver, CO, Tristan Scott and Anna Ptacek, of Racine, WI; great-grandchildren, Addy, Joe, Malin, John Wayne, Jackson, Marshall, and Emilia Ptacek of Denver, CO; as well as nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Anna; and her sisters, Linnea, Violet, Esther, and Mildred.
A visitation for Helen will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., on Friday, April 28, 2017, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 530 Ruth St., Green Lake, WI, 54941.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017, at 11:00 am, at Our Lady of the Lake in Green Lake with Father Philip Krogman officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Ptacek family burial plot in Prescott, WI. Memorials in Helens name may be directed to the Green Lake Renewal Organization, P.O.
