Gregory Joseph Lange, age 88, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Barrett House in Ripon.
Greg was born June 5, 1933 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late George and Sally (Shaffer) Lange. He served in the U.S. Army 25th Infantry Division (Tropic Lightning), Korean Theatre, as a paratrooper, earning two purple hearts. On April 8, 1960, he was united in marriage to Lois Bernice Harrison. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2012. During his lifetime, he was a member of The United Methodist Church.
Greg was an avid carpenter, hunter and fisherman. Together with his brother, Lenny Lange, they spent countless hours on the trout streams of Wisconsin. Their relationship has been a strong bond throughout their lives. Many great stories were shared between the two of them that entertained those lucky enough to be around. With only a seventh grade education, Greg became an accomplished machinist employed by Kiekhaefer, Green Giant Producer Container, and then retiring from Giddings & Lewis.
Survivors include his three children, Dorothy (Peter) Wickman, John Lange, and Laura (James) Wilson; and four grandchildren, Jennifer Rabideaux, Michael Lange, Caleb Lange, and Jaiden Lange. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, George and Sally Lange; wife, Lois Lange; and sister, Agnes (Lange) Leonhardt.
A private family memorial service for Greg will take place in early summer at Ledgeview Memorial Park in Fond du Lac, WI. Inurnment will follow. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Ripon Barrett House. Their care and compassion that they gave to our loved one was outstanding. We cannot thank them enough for all the ways in which they adopted him and became an extension of our family. Bridgette, Laurie, Suzi, Renee, Melissa, Ally, Mia and Ricardo- you made his days brighter and gave him the support and love that we could not always give. You hold a huge place in our hearts! We would also like to thank Rick Patton and staff at the Fond du Lac County Veterans Service. A memorial is being established in Gregs name.
