Gordon R. Gehrke, age 100, of Ripon, WI, passed away on July 8, 2017, at Ripon Medical Center.
Gordon was born June 2, 1917, in Ripon, WI, the son of Herman F. and Meta (Badke) Gehrke. He graduated from Ripon High School. On December 25, 1940, Gordon married Joanna Ristau in Dubuque, Iowa. He served our country in the United States Army in WWII in the CIC as a SSGT. Gordon worked all his life as an electrician. He worked for Berg Electric and C&S Electric. Gordon was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon.
Survivors include his son, Gordon F. (Ellen) Gehrke of West Bend, WI; daughter, Patti (Robin) Duffy of Ripon, WI; two grandchildren, Garrick (Heather) Gehrke of Dublin, OH and Gwen (Josh) Ampe of West Bend, WI; five great-grandchildren, Sam, Lucy and Emma Gehrke all of Dublin, OH and Gaven and Evie Ampe both of West Bend, WI; brother-in-law, Earl Ristau of Peoria, AZ and special nephew and cribbage partner, Tony Ristau of Ripon, WI. Gordon is further survived by other nieces and nephews, Kristine (Michael) Anderson of Ripon, WI, Wayne (Susan) Weishaar of Big Bend, WI, Ray Weishaar of Ripon, WI and Beverly (Weishaar) Snyder of Fond du Lac, WI; god-daughter, Judith Maguire of Ripon, WI and two like-a-daughters, Barbara Swihart of Little Rock, AR and Peggy Adamski of Ripon, WI. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Meta Gehrke; wife, Joanna Gehrke; sister, Henrietta (Forest) Weishaar; brother, Arnold Gehrke; special friend, Elaine Moderow and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Visitation for Gordon will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017, from 3 – 4:00 pm at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI 54971.
Memorial Service for Gordon will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017, at 4:00 pm at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon. Reverend Dr. Kevin P. Mundell will officiate. A private inurnment will take place at Hillside Cemetery with Full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI 54971 or a charity of your choice.
