Gordon A. Bischoff, age 90, of Ripon, WI, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.
Gordon was born July 24, 1926, in Portage, WI, the son of Walter and Gladys (Flood) Bischoff. He graduated from Portage High School. Gordon served our country in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1947. He went on to further his education receiving his Bachelors Degree from Milwaukee State Teachers College and then his Masters Degree from the University Wisconsin, Madison. On February 21, 1952, Gordon married Joan Burrington. He was a music teacher and a band director teaching in Green Lake and Princeton Schools from 1952 to 1960 and Ripon Middle School from 1960 to 1988. Music was his life. He was in many bands throughout the area including John Check and the Wisconsin Dutchmen. He was the proudest of playing in The Green Bay Packer Band from 1971 to 1979. Gordon was a member of Our Saviours United Church of Christ in Ripon. He was also a member of Tuscumbia Golf Course in Green Lake.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Joan Bischoff of Ripon, WI; son, Gordon (Alice Hampton) Bischoff Jr. of Eau Claire, WI; daughter, Heidi (Kent) Schwanke of Ripon, WI; grandson, Elliot (Melissa) Ladwig of Eugene, OR; two granddaughters, Haley (Eric) Richter of Fond du Lac, WI and Katelyn Aumann of Ripon, WI; four great-grandchildren, Ethan and Rylee Ladwig of Eugene, OR and Payton and Kaden Aumann of Ripon, WI. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Gladys Bischoff; in-laws, Edmund and Elizabeth Burrington; brother, Wayne Bischoff; son-in-law, Donny Ladwig and brother-in-law, Edmund Sonny Burrington.
Visitation for Gordon will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017, from 4 7:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971 and again on Saturday, January 7, 2017, from 2 3:00 pm at Our Saviours United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI 54971.
Memorial Service for Gordon will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at 3:00 pm at Our Saviours United Church of Christ in Ripon. Reverend Dr. Kevin P. Mundell will officiate. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in his name.
