George Watson

February 10, 1918 — June 2, 2000

George Samuel Watson, age 82, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Friday evening June 2, 2000, at Ripon Medical Center.

George was born the son of Minnie (Meyer) Watson on February 10, 1918, in Milwaukee, WI. He lived in Geneva, IL and attended school there. On September 19, 1940, he married Lois Jean Leach. George was in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and was in the 1st Motion Picture Unit, he filmed bombing missions, and his main job was an aircraft engine mechanic. After the war, George worked for Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer Co. as a delivery driver and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Elgin, IL. Upon retirement, George and Lois Jean moved to Green Lake, WI. George was also a very good locksmith; he had his own business in Green Lake as a locksmith.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lois Jean of Green Lake; one sister-in-law, Iris Ackemann of Elgin, IL; one niece and one nephew; and a very special friend, Shirley (Klaus) Rabenhorst of Green Lake. George was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for George Watson will be held on Monday, June 5, 2000, at 5:30 pm with Reverend Karen Gygax Rodriguez officiating. Friends may call on Monday, June 5, 2000 from 4:00 pm until the time of the service, at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Inurnment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name.
