Franklin C. Schmuhl, age 94, of Markesan, WI, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Markesan Resident Home in Markesan, WI.
Franklin was born on May 24, 1924 at the family farm in Fairwater, WI, the son of Oscar and Helen (Bierman) Schmuhl. He graduated from Brandon High School, and then went on to continue farming all his life. He lived on the family farm until his sons took over and then moved to Fairwater. On November 1, 1952, he married Violet Christian in Fairwater. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater and was in various organizations at the church. He was also in horseshoe leagues as well as dartball leagues.
Franklin is survived by his wife, Violet Schmuhl of Markesan; a daughter Barbara (Dan) Kehlenbrink of Green Lake, WI; two sons, Dale (Kelly) Schmuhl and Dean (Jennifer) Schmuhl both of Brandon, WI; grandchildren, Megan (Kyle) Kuntz, Zachary (Jocelyn) Kehlenbrink, Amanda (Josh) Douma, Emily (Cory) Strahota, Carissa Schmuhl, Alyssa Schmuhl, and Brevin Schmuhl; two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, Mallory (Eric) Krueger and Zachary (Alyssa) Meyer; five step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Harlan (Lois) Schmuhl; sisters-in-law, Marge Schmuhl, Betty Miracle, Florence (special friend, Louie) Brown; and a brother-in-law, Robert Christian. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Helen Schmuhl; a brother, Art Schmuhl; a sister, Lorraine Schmuhl; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Brown.
A visitation for Franklin will be held from 9:30 until 11:30 on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church, 100 Church Street, Fairwater, WI, 53931.
A Memorial Service for Franklin will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater, with Rev. Samuel Hamilton-Poore officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials in his name may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater or Hometown Hospice, 55 S. Main St., Fond du Lac, WI, 54935.
