Emilie Edith Siegmann, age 97, of Cottage Grove, WI, formerly of Ripon, WI, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017, at Kindred Hearts in Cottage Grove, WI.
Emilie was born September 1, 1919, in Ripon, WI, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Witt) Page. She graduated from Ripon High School. On February 28, 1942, Emilie married George Siegmann. She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon. For most of her 97 years, Emilie was active in many ways in her church, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, visiting nursing homes with her women’s groups, serving in the kitchen and attending church camp. These were just a small part of her loving, giving, spiritual life. Her home life consisted of raising her family in the church and instilling Christian values.
She enjoyed gardening, raising and preserving much of the family’s food and sewing most of their clothing. She would always be there for any family member, friend, church member or neighbor in need. The last two and a half years of Emilie’s life were spent at Kindred Hearts Memory Care in Cottage Grove, WI, where she was still able to play hymns on her piano. Before moving to Cottage Grove, Emilie was cared for by her son, Mark and his wife, Kathy and their five children where she was surrounded by an active loving family for eight years.
Survivors include her six children, Jerry (Starla) Siegmann of Milwaukee, WI, Janet (Lynn) Mellenthin of Cottage Grove, WI, Kathy (Mike) Suchocki of Mukwonago, WI, Ann (David) Kleman of Two Rivers, WI, Mark (Kathy) Siegmann of McFarland, WI and Curt (Jane) Siegmann of Waterbury, VT; fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Joyce Kahl of Ripon, WI and one sister-in-law, Lois Page of Ripon, WI. Emilie was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Anna Page; husband, George Siegmann; daughter, Beth Siegmann and many sisters and brothers and their spouses and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Emilie will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017, from 9 – 11:00 am at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 401 W. Fond du Lac St., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral Service for Emilie will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at 11:00 am at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon. Reverend Michael Morning will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Immanuel United Methodist Church, 401 W. Fond du Lac, St., Ripon, WI 54971 or Alzheimer’s Assn.
