Edward L. Kumbier, 90, of Pickett, WI, died Thursday, July 6, 2017, at his home with family by his side.

Ed was born June 9, 1927, to the late Edward and Hulda (Semrau) Kumbier. He married Arline Mae (Wissink) on November 1, 1952. Ed was a farmer his entire life and also worked at Universal Foundry and Morgan Door Company in Oshkosh. For a short time, he was a sales rep. for Neshkoro Mutual Ins. Co.

He was born and lived on the family farm his whole life. Known to most as “Jiggs”, he loved being a farmer. Driving tractors and caring for animals was his passion. Taking over the family farm in the early 70’s, he milked cows, raised hogs and chickens. Later in life, he continued to spend time in the barn caring for beef cattle. He enjoyed taking care of the numerous barn cats; notably “Angel”, his favorite. Jiggs loved taking care of his apple trees and visiting with neighbors and friends. He enjoyed sitting, with his wife, on their front-lawn swing. He also enjoyed baseball, playing in the Zion League for many years, bowling in the Mixed Bowling League at T&O Lanes, camping at Pearl Lake, playing in the Winnebago Lutheran Dartball League, deer hunting, watching the Green Bay Packers, and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife, Arline; children, Robert (Vicki), Thomas (Julie), James, Juliann (Jim) Crook, Sandra and Marjorie. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren and their families, Candace (Mike) Stevens and their children, Paris, Legend, and Halo; Robbie (Emily) and their son, Axtyn; Jeremiah (Cherie) Luben and their children, Caden, Jada, and Carter; Chrystal Marchant and her children, Chasity, Jacob, and Chessa; Jeremy (Amanda) and their son, Miles; Jacki (Bill) Curry and their sons, Justus, Malachi, and Salem; Kayla (Anthony) Samanya; Carissa (Jason) Tesch; Clayton Crook and Colette Crook. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Norman; two sisters, Edna Hewitt-Nitz and Hildegarde Henke-Ballwanz, and grandson, Jarid Robert Kumbier.
