Edith Menick

Edith Mills-Menick, age 89, of 904 Metomen St, Ripon, passed away Monday morning, June 6, 2005, at Omro Care Center in Omro.

Edith was born June 25, 1915, in Lakefield, MN, the daughter of Otto and Minnie (Marquardt) Endeward. She graduated from Lakefield High School in 1933. She was a switchboard operator in Lakefield for 3 years. She went to school in Minneapolis for training for grinding lenses for optometry, and then worked in Jackson, MN for 2 years. In 1939, she married Roger Mills in Spirit Lake, IA. They lived in Princeton before moving to Ripon in 1942. Edith worked for Kohl Hardware, Louie Cain’s gas station and Speed Queen. She then worked for Drs. Bachus and Dittmer as a medical assistant, and later worked for Dr. House at Kemper Clinic in reception. Roger passed away in 1969, and Edith remarried in 1971 to Harold Menick. They resided in Ripon and he passed away in 1981, at which time she retired. Edith was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Ripon.

Survivors include 1 daughter, Patricia (Wayne) Mills-Heidel of Omro; 2 grandchildren, Jennifer (Joel) Barbian of Oshkosh and Micah (Brook) Heidel of Omro; 3 great-grandchildren, Evelynn Heidel, Kaleb & Gracen Barbian; 1 brother, Wayne (Rose Marie) Endeward, Ripon; 2 sisters-in-law, Bernice “Bunnie” Endeward, Ripon and Madeline (Mills) Dreblow of CO; 2 nieces, Lori Endeward and Ranee Henderson; and nephew, Scott Endeward. She was preceded in death by infant sister; parents; brother, Leslie Endeward; and her husbands.

Funeral service for Edith Mills-Menick will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2005, at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. The Rev. Alan F. Schaffmeyer will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ripon. A memorial has been established.
