Earl E. Schmuhl

Earl E. Schmuhl, age 92, of Brandon, WI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 15, 2026 at Barrett House in Markesan, WI.

Earl was born on April 24, 1934 on the family farm just west of Fairwater, WI, son of Elmer and Julia (Kehl) Schmuhl. He graduated from Markesan High School in 1952. Earl inherited the farm, keeping that up until moving to Brandon in 1961. On June 23, 1956 he married Christina Bernath. They enjoyed 60 years together before she passed away in 2017. Earl worked as a carpenter and floor installer for Home Contractors for a few years before starting his own floor installation business. He took pride in building their home in Brandon, and throughout the years built many pieces of furniture for the house, as he was a talented woodworker as well. Earl was a gracious man, never spoke bad about anyone, and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, watching birds, grilling over the fire, and was a devoted member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Ripon.

Earl is survived by his sons, Kurt (Arlene) Schmuhl, Jeffery Schmuhl, Kevin (Faye) Schmuhl, and Todd (Karla) Schmuhl; five grandchildren, Cory and Katie, Natasha and Carissa, and Kea; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gordon Schmuhl. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christina; and a brother, Donald Schmuhl.

Visitation for Earl will be held from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Monday, June 22, 2026 at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971.

A Prayer Service for Earl will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 22, 2026 at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, with Deacon Jeff Copson officiating. Interment will follow at Brandon Cemetery in Brandon, WI. A memorial is being established in his name.
