Earl Floyd

Earl R. Floyd, age 82, of Ripon, WI passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Ripon Community Hospital.

Earl was born on February 10, 1940 in Appleton, WI, the fifth child of Lawrence, Sr. and Berneice (Wilhelms) Floyd. He graduated from Ripon High School, Class of 1958. On July 25, 1959 he married Carolee Ferch at Peace Lutheran Church in Rosendale, WI. Earl was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon.

Earl worked for Speed Queen in Ripon for 38 plus years, retiring in 1997 as production manager. For his 25 years of retirement he enjoyed life to the fullest. The privilege of wintering in Florida for 22 years was special to him. He enjoyed many things including playing shuffleboard, dart ball, fishing, traveling, playing cards, watching Western movies (especially Gunsmoke), listening to and singing along with country western music, polka music, and getting together with family and friends. Earl’s well known knack of calling you by a nickname he had just made up was unique and endearing.

Earl is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Carol, of Ripon; a son, Michael (Sue) Floyd of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Chloe (Cody) Wittchow of Ripon, Lucas Eberhart of Madison, Lindsay (David) Kalsow of Appleton, and Kayla Floyd of Oshkosh; great-grandson, Jaxson Wittchow (“gimme five”) of Ripon; his siblings, Jean Salzman, Roy (Jo) Floyd, Dennis Floyd, Roger (Barb) Floyd and Mary Jo Floyd; son-in-law, Mark Eberhart; a special sister-in-law, Marcie Kunkle; many nieces; nephews; and special friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Denise Floyd; his parents, Lawrence, Sr. and Berneice Floyd; father and mother-in-law, Carlton & Joy Ferch; siblings, Eileen Floyd, Ruth Eiring, Ellen Sobralski, and Lawrence, Jr. “Chuck” Floyd.

Visitation for Earl will be held from 9-11 am on Monday, November 7, 2022 at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am on Monday, at the funeral home, with Rev. Melissa Hrdlicka officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Rosendale Cemetery.
