Duane Schmid, age 78, of Campbellsport, WI, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Harbor Haven Health and Rehabilitation in Fond du Lac, WI.
Duane was born on October 6, 1939 in Chicago, IL, the son of Arthur and Ann (Steffen) Schmid. He graduated from high school in Chicago, IL. On October 22, 1988 he married Diane Steifner in Fond du Lac. Duane worked at Regal Ware in Kewaskum, WI and later West Bend, WI for over 35 years. He was also a meat cutter at the Red Owl grocery store in Kewaskum. Duane loved the outdoors, especially his yard, and took pride in his garden and landscaping. Living on the lake gave him the opportunity to bass fish anytime he wanted. Duane and Diane also enjoyed to travel and took various bus trips around the country.
Duane is survived by his loving wife, Diane Schmid of Campbellsport, WI; a daughter, DAnne Schmid of Hollywood, FL; granddaughter, Alexandria Pierce who lives in Spain; a brother-in-law, Dennis (Denise) Steifner of Ripon, WI; three sisters-in-law, Darlene Witkowski, Donna (Mike) Levenhagen and Jackie Steifner, all of Ripon, WI; and a nephew, Jeff Levenhagen of Madison, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ann Schmid; and a brother, David Schmid.
A private family memorial service for Duane will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, with Pastor Donald Deike officiating. A memorial in his name is being established.
