Douglas Dean Degener, age 84, of Markesan, WI, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at his home.
Douglas was born on August 1, 1928, at home on the family farm in rural Markesan, the son of Arthur and Edna (Wilde) Degener. He graduated from Markesan High School. In 1957, Douglas married Harriet Daane at Alto Reformed Church in Alto. He and Harriet farmed side by side throughout their years together. Douglas was a member of Kingston United Methodist Church in Kingston.
Survivors include his wife, Harriet of Markesan, WI; one daughter, Dawn (Larry) Baird of Ripon, WI; two granddaughters, Ashley (Jay) Roberts of Pickett, WI and Heather (Michael) Mueller of Ripon, WI; two great-granddaughters, Peighton and Lakottah Roberts of Pickett, WI; two brothers, Charles Degener of Markesan, WI and Curt (Lois) Degener of Mequon, WI; two brothers-in-law, Harvey (Elaine) Daane of Markesan, WI and Earl (Betty) Daane of Florida and several nieces and nephews. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Durward Degener.
Visitation for Douglas will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013, from 9 11:00 am at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral service for Douglas will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013, at 11:00 am at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Pastor Brenda M. Jahns-Grams will officiate. A graveside service will take place on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Phelps Cemetery on Highway H, 1 mile west of Highway O in the Town of Green Lake. Memorials may be directed to Kingston United Methodist Church, 206 E. Pearl St., Kingston, WI 53939.
