Dorothy I. Waters, age 81, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2016, at Maplecrest Manor in Ripon, WI.
Dorothy was born on December 24, 1934, daughter of Ernest and Camille (Petersen) Bengston. In 1952, she married Gerald Waters, who passed away in 1983. In Dorothy’s early years she was a telephone operator, and also worked beside her husband on the family farm. She went on to work on the assembly line at Speed Queen, where she retired. Dorothy also volunteered her time at the Ripon Hospital in the registration department. She was a member of Our Savior’s United Church of Christ in Ripon, a past member of the Ladies Guild, and the Farm Bureau. Dorothy enjoyed word search puzzles, game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune, and could not pass up a good garage sale.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Nelson (Maria) Waters of Green Lake, WI, Gary (Renee) Waters of Ripon, WI, Luann Judas of Green Lake, WI, Richard (Brenda) Waters of Markesan; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Stracy; a sister-in-law, Alice Ann Kreuger of CA; nieces; nephews; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; her parents; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Waters; and a brother-in-law, Charles Stracy.
A visitation for Dorothy will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, WI, and again at Our Savior’s United Church of Christ, 343 Scott Street, Ripon, WI, on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
A funeral service for Dorothy will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., at Our Savior’s United Church of Christ, with Rev. Dr. Kevin P. Mundell officiating. Interment will follow the service at Center House Cemetery in Green Lake, WI. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer, N19W24350 Riverwood Dr., Waukesha, WI, 53188, in her name.
