Dorothy Viola Ryerson, age 90, of Ripon, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2010, at Manor Care in Fond du Lac, WI.
Dorothy was born on January 12, 1920, in Stoughton, WI, the daughter of Bernard and Versie (Bacon) Putnam. She graduated from Ripon High School and on October 29, 1941, Dorothy married Donald J. Ryerson at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Ripon. She worked for 35 years as a sales person for Haase Shoe Store in Ripon. Dorothy volunteered for many years at the Thrift Store in Ripon and was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing golf, bowling and knitting.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 68 years, Donald of Ripon, WI; son, James (Deborah) Ryerson of Ripon, WI; two granddaughters, Lea (Joaquin) Salas of Ripon, WI and Dawn (Keith) Grey of Chippewa Falls, WI; great-grandchildren, Sarah and Alaina Salas of Ripon, WI and Brendan and Kieran Grey of Chippewa Falls, WI; son-in-law, Peter Schieler of Ripon, WI. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Linda Schieler.
Per Dorothy’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
A private graveside ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Ripon. Reverend Robert A. Fictum will officiate.
