Doris Lorraine Meyer, age 76, of the Town of Ripon, WI, went to join her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Tuesday afternoon, May 30, 2000, at her home after a short, courageous battle with cancer.
She was born May 13, 1924, in Duluth, MN, a daughter to Fritz and Florence (Watts) Eichstedt. Doris was a 1942, graduate of Ripon and in 1945; she married Lawrence E. Meyer at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Ripon. She was a secretary at Ripon Foods for 29 years, and was a member of the 25-year club. Doris was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was Past President of the United Methodist Women and the Priscilla Circle, member of Christian Service Class, and was involved in various church committees and district offices. For many years she was active in the Eastern District of United Methodist Women, attended the School of Missions and Mature Years Camp and supported various missions and charities. Doris was involved in the Meal of Thanks at the church, and was in the Hand Bell Choir. She was a Prairie Star 4-H Club leader, Hilltop Homemakers member and helped on the family farm.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas (Christina) Meyer of Lakeland, FL and Charles Meyer of Ripon; two daughters, Diane (Dennis) Selchow of Ripon and Lori (Gary) Hahn of Markesan; four grandchildren, Matthew and Joy Selchow of Ripon and Andrew and Corey Hahn of Markesan; two sisters-in-law, and Betty Eichstedt and Evelyn Bice both of Ripon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence in November of 1979; parents; one brother, Robert Eichstedt and one sister, Marion Gloyd.
Funeral service will be Friday, June 2, 2000, at 2 pm at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon with Pastor David Busker officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 12 pm until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon. A memorial has been established for the Accessibility Fund at the church and Hospice Hope in Berlin.
