Donald “Donnie” E. Miller, age 88, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017, at Maplecrest Manor in Ripon.
Donnie was born December 2, 1928, in Pickett, WI, the son of Emil and Alma (Kutschat) Miller. On June 4, 1949, he married Betty Retzlaff in Ripon. Donnie worked at the Pickett Co-op and then went to Mobil Oil where he retired in 1986. Also in 1986, he started his own business, Miller Oil in Ripon and then finally retiring at age 74. Donnie enjoyed playing dartball and bowling in his earlier years. He loved playing cards so much he always had a deck with him. Donnie could always be seen flipping quarters and he could fix anything. He was an avid Cubs fan and liked watching the Badgers. Donnie was an electric train collector. He was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Betty Miller of Ripon, WI; three daughters, Cynthia Miller of Neenah, WI and her children, Angela (Scott) PeCore of DePere, WI and their children, Ava and Nora; Jean (Thomas) Schuster of Ripon, WI and their children, Sarah (Travis) Richert of Verona, WI and their children, Gavin, Cole and Jack and Jane (Bill) Coats of Ripon, WI and their children Amy (Tim) of Milwaukee and Jenni of Madison; sister-in-law, Margaret Mackie of Ripon, WI and their special family friends, Jon and Diane Heatley of Ripon, WI. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Betty; brother, Roland; his beloved grandson, Joel Schuster; brother-in-law, Forrest Mackie and many close friends.
Visitation for Donald will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017, from 9 – 11:00 am at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral Service for Donald will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017, at 11:00 am at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon. Reverend Dr. Kevin P. Mundell will officiate. Interment will follow to Liberty Prairie Cemetery in the Town of Utica. A memorial is being established in his name.
