Donald Lueptow

Donald K. Lueptow died Thursday, August 4, 2016, at his home in Ripon, Wisconsin surrounded by his family. He was born in Watertown, Wisconsin on August 28, 1929. He was the son of Lucille (Hess) and Arthur Lueptow. He married Bernadine (Billie) Laboyeske on October 21, 1950. They had 7 children – Mary, Nick, Michele, Anne, Peter, Catherine, and Matthew.

Don began his career working with his dad whom he credited with teaching him the skills he needed to go on to become a “jack of all trades, master of each”. He owned the Clark gas station prior to beginning his primary career as Director of Buildings and Grounds at Ripon College, a position he held for over 30 years. During this time he also taught a variety of classes at Moraine Park Technical College. His skills, knowledge and willingness to help others made him the “go-to guy” for many area residents who truly appreciated his talents.

Don loved traveling, restoring cars, woodworking, fishing with his boys, golfing, and most of all his family and friends. One of his great joys in life was making other people laugh. His one-liners were endless and continued right up to the end.

He is survived by his wife, 7 children, 1 daughter-in-law, Jane, 4 sons-in-law, Rolan, Frank, Paul and Doug, 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, his brother Art (Bud), his sister-in-law Alyce, 15 nieces and nephews, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Carol, and sister-in-law Doty.

Visitation for Don will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2016, from 9 – 11 am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 228 E Blossom St, Ripon, WI 54971.

Mass of Christian Burial for Don will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at 11 am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Ripon. Father William Whalen will officiate, Father John Schmitz will concelebrate. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Ripon. A memorial is being established.
