While raising his family, he was employed for many years at Speed Queen, served on the board of the Ripon Municipal Hospital and the Church Council of Grace Lutheran (where he was at times the lone male voice in the church choir) and was a member of the Ripon Rotary Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents and, in 1970, by his first wife, Marie Farrelly Lueck, a former classmate at Ripon College. His marriage to Joyce Taylor Lueck, who passed away in 2010, combined two long established Ripon families the Luecks and Taylors. Their children and grandchildren would pursue careers and raise families of their own across the nation.
