Donald Lueck

July 26, 1922 — January 2, 2021

Don Lueck, age 98, of Ripon, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 2 at Lake View Place in Fond du Lac, WI.

Don (Donald F.) was born July 26, 1922 in Oshkosh, WI, the son of Fred W and Clara Kaiser Lueck of Ripon. Raised and educated in Ripon, he was a beloved member of the community.

Don graduated from Ripon College. He served from 1943 through 1946 in the United States Army, 292nd Combat Engineers in the European theater. While raising his family, he was employed for many years at Speed Queen, served on the board of the Ripon Municipal Hospital and the Church Council of Grace Lutheran (where he was at times the lone male voice in the church choir) and was a member of the Ripon Rotary Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents and, in 1970, by his first wife, Marie Farrelly Lueck, a former classmate at Ripon College. His marriage to Joyce Taylor Lueck, who passed away in 2010, combined two long established Ripon families – the Luecks and Taylors. Their children and grandchildren would pursue careers and raise families of their own across the nation.

Survivors include a daughter, Pat Taylor, of Seattle: four sons, Dan (Patti) Lueck of Hot Springs Village, AR, Tom Lueck of Carmel, CA, Tom (Karen Erickson) Taylor of Arlington, MA, and Jim (Lisa) Taylor of Brookfield, WI; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

In recent years, Don has resided at Lake View Place, where he received loving care. Because of travel restrictions imposed by the COVID virus, a celebration of his life will be postponed until a later date. Inurnment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Ripon, WI.
