Donald R. Klein, age 84, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Harbor Haven Health and Rehabililtation in Fond du Lac, WI, with his loving family by his side.
Don was born in Ashland, WI, on November 24, 1933, the son of Roy and Marie (Strom) Klein. He graduated from Ashland High School. He went on to serve our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. In 1989, he married Annette Buck at Our Saviour's United Church of Christ in Ripon, where he was a member. He was also a charter member of the American Custom Gunmakers Guild, as well as the Puchyan Longbeards NWTF Chapter. He was a loving family man and a very talented custom gunmaker whose passion for perfection earned him wide acclaim and respect.
Don is survived by his wife, Annette of Ripon; three daughters, Adina (Glenn) Ackerman of Fairfax, VA, Laura Klein of Eldorado Springs, CO, Karen (Chad) McCathie of Holmen, WI, a step-daughter, Kristina (Raymond) Billings of Norman, OK; a step-son, Michael Buck of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Benjamin and Joshua Ackerman, Alyssa and Dylan McCathie, Laura Stofflet, Kenton and Bennett Billings; a great-granddaughter, Veronica Stofflet; a brother, Robert (Charlotte) Klein of Manitowoc, WI; a brother-in-law, Paul Oberg of Eau Galle, WI; and several nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Marie Klein; a brother, Roy Klein; and two sisters, Dorothy Niederreuther and Patricia Oberg.
A visitation for Don will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, February 19, 2018, at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI, and again from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, also at the funeral home.
A memorial service for Don will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI, with Reverend Jonathan Biffert officiating. Full military honors will follow the service at the funeral home.
