Dolores Ruth Gonyo, age 96, of Green Lake, WI, died on Thursday, January 21, 2016, at Fountain View Care Center in Ripon.
Mrs. Gonyo was born December 29, 1919, in North Fond du Lac, WI, to William and Bertha (Jahnke) Marquardt. She was a graduate of North Fond du Lac High School and attended Technical Business College. For many years she was employed by Eaton Modern Market in Green Lake as a bookkeeper. She also worked in that capacity for Alvin & Alvin Construction in Green Lake.
Mrs. Gonyo was a member of St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Fond du Lac for many years. For most of her life she belonged to the congregation of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Green Lake.
She had many interests throughout her life including gardening and growing African violets. Philately, reading, and listening to music were among her indoor activities. For many years she was a member of the Puckyan Pirates Club, the Business and Professional Womens organization, and for 26 years served as treasurer for the 20th Century Club, all in Green Lake.
She is survived by her son, James (Merrie Kay) Gonyo of Manassas, VA; a granddaughter, Nicole (Phillip) Throckmorton of Dumfries, VA and a grandson, Peter (Megan) Gonyo of Bristow, VA. She also had four great-grandchildren, Abigail and Michael Throckmorton and Gwendolyn and Alice Gonyo. Mrs. Gonyo was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, four brothers and two husbands, Richard Weber and Clyde Gonyo.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside ceremony will be held at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery in Berlin with Reverend Rodney E. Dietsche presiding. Memorials may be directed to Peace Lutheran Church or School, P.O. Box 224, Green Lake, WI 54941.
In recent years she resided at Wolverton Glen in Ripon and finally in Fountain View Care Center. The family thanks the staff for their kind and loving care.
