Deforest Bandt

March 20, 1927 — November 30, 2019

DeForest Kenneth Bandt, age 92, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at his home in Ripon, WI.

DeForest was born on March 20, 1927 in the Town of Shields, the son of Edward and Nathalie (Clocksene) Bandt. After graduating from Neshkoro High School he farmed his entire life. On February 26, 1955 he married his best friend, Joyce Priebe, and together they farmed in Marquette County for ten years. In 1965 they moved their farming operation to Ripon where they actively farmed until retirement. It's been said a farmer never really retires and this was certainly true of dad. He was interested and concerned to the very end about the daily activities on his farm. Besides his passion for farming, he lived daily as a faithful servant to Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. He was a loyal member of Immanuel United Methodist Church of Ripon.

DeForest is survived by his loving children, Jane (Steven) DeVault of LaCrosse, WI, Ruth (Larry) Jahns of Ripon, WI and Thomas (Heather) Bandt of Ripon, WI; grandchildren, Audra DeVault, Nicholas (Shayna Powers) DeVault, Konna (Michael) Wegener, Michael (Rachel) Jahns, Christy Jahns, and Joshua and Ava Bandt; great-grandchildren, Halia and Isaac Wegener; a brother, Donald (Gerry) Bandt; and many dear nieces; nephews; friends; and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Nathalie Bandt; his wife, Joyce Bandt; a brother, Everette Bandt; a sister, Dolores Bethke; two brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law, and one nephew.

Visitation for DeForest will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 401 W. Fond du Lac St., Ripon, WI 54971.

Funeral service for DeForest will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon, with Rev. Harsha K. Kotian officiating. Interment will follow at Loper Cemetery in the Town of Ripon. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel United Methodist Church, 401 W. Fond du Lac St., Ripon, WI 54971, or Agnesian Hospice, 745 South St., Suite 4, Green Lake, WI 54941.

The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all the TLC caregivers, especially Denise and Allyssa. Your gentle touch and kindness shown to dad and his family did not go unnoticed. You allowed us to fulfill dad's wish to stay in his own home until the very end. Without you this wouldn't have been possible. For that we are forever grateful. Also, a special thanks to Agnesian Hospice nurses Sarah, Jeanine, and Lesley. Your care and compassion for dad were deeply appreciated.
