Deborah J. Wammer

Deborah “Debbie” Jean Wammer, age 59, formerly of Ashland WI, passed away at her home in Ripon, WI on Monday, November 6, 2023, with her loving family by her side.

Debbie was born in St. Croix Falls, WI on February 25, 1964, daughter of Delbert and Shirley (Johnson) Erickson. She attended Grantsburg High School and UW-River Falls. In 1991 she married Steve Wammer at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, WI. Debbie had a passion for teaching kids to read. She held a special place in her heart for Marengo Valley School in Ashland. After moving she continued to impact children’s lives in Berlin as an elementary teacher. Through her teaching career of over 25 years, she influenced hundreds of children.

Debbie was an incredible mother of triplets and cherished watching their activities as they grew. She loved spending time with her family and her special dog, Apollo. She enjoyed visits to beaches, oceans, lakes, and spending time with friends and family on the porch. Debbie watched a variety of Wisconsin sports, she was especially fond of supporting her husband’s softball teams.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Steve Wammer; mother, Shirley Erickson; three children, Emily Wammer, Sam Wammer, and Jake (Haley) Wammer; siblings, Dale (Heidi) Erickson and Lisa Ristow; and in-laws, Michael and Bette Wammer. Debbie is preceded in death by her father, Delbert Erickson.

Visitation for Debbie will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr, Ripon, WI 54971, and again from 2:30 - 4:00 pm Friday, November 17, 2023 at Grace Lutheran Church, 430 W Griswold St, Ripon, WI 54971.

Memorial service for Debbie will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Grace Lutheran Church, with Rev. Clay R. Salmela officiating. You may view a livestream of Debbie's service at 4:00 pm via the link below. A memorial is being established in her name.

Inurnment at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ashland will take place at a later date in the spring.
