David N. Ellis

David “Dave” N. Ellis, age 83, of Green Lake, WI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Eden Vista in Ripon, WI.

Dave was born in Rockford, IL to the late Ralph and Francis Ellis. He was an East High Graduate in 1960 and married Peggy (Markunas) Ellis in 1963. In August of 1975 they moved to Green Lake, WI with their three children, Mark, Dan & Becky. For decades he and his wife proudly owned and operated Ell-Pine Resort. He also worked as a mechanical engineer at SMC Manufacturing in Oshkosh, WI for over 40 years. Dave was a lifelong Chicago Bear’s Fan, and received much Packer “grief” over this living up in WI. He loved to have a good time with this fact and proudly wore a Bear’s shirt or hat all year long. Throughout his life he enjoyed and was a part of many softball teams both in Rockord before moving, and then in Green Lake. The last team he played for was a local favorite, Adam’s Rib in Green Lake. Dave had a great love for music, and often had his vintage tunes playing throughout the house for both small and large family gatherings. He was a skilled handyman and woodworker. He built many things for his family, including, with the help of his brother-in-law, Joe, picnic tables and matching chairs that are still part of the family home. Living up in a lake town, fishing and boating with his family was also a favorite past time.

Dave was a proud, private man. He loved his family more than anything; especially his wife, Peggy, who even after 60 plus years of being married still lovingly referred to her as his “bride.” They built an amazing life together, and made everyone that walked through their door feel like family. Dave leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Peggy; a son, Dan Ellis; a daughter, Becky Ellis; a grandson, Riley Ellis; a sister, Barb Allen; brother, Steve (Sue) Ellis; brother-in-law, Tom (Michelle) Markunas; a special niece, Amy (Al) Galluzzo; a special grand-niece, Andrea Reddic; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Francis Ellis; a son, Mark Ellis; daughter-in-law, Lori Ellis; grandson, Sean Ellis; granddaughter, Kathryn Ellis; brother, Ron Ellis; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bobbi and Jerry Devera; and brother-in-law, Joe Allen.

A private family ceremony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family would love donations to the Alzheimer’s Association of Wisconsin, www.Alz.org/wi.
