David J. Dimick, age 80, of Rosendale, WI, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017, at his home with loved ones by his side.
Dave was born on November 12, 1936, in Cumberland, WI, the son of Richard and Florence (Fornell) Dimick. He attended Hayriver Valley School in Almena for grades 1-8 and graduated from Baron High School in 1954. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954 and served his country until 1958. In 1958, Dave met and married his wife, Jimmie Wolf, in Sequin, TX. He completed college at UW River Falls in 1963. Dave taught science and coached basketball at Menomonee Falls North High School from 1969-1984. He and his wife also owned and operated the Village Cafe in Birchwood, WI, for many years. Dave was an active member in the American Legion, Lion's Club, and the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association.
Dave is survived by his wife, Jimmie Dimick; four daughters, Debi (Richard) Struck, Becky Darkow, Marian Ollinger, and Patti (Kevin) Madigan; grandchildren, Laurie (Sean) McCarthy, Aaron (Soma) Struck, Kimi (David) Johnson, Jessica (Scott) Lindow, Shanna (Eric) Eskelei, Ashley (Chad) Gargulak, Brandon Darkow, Sarah Ollinger, Nick (Roxanne) Ollinger, Amanda (Matt) Wycklendt, Megan (Brad) Winter, David (finace' Savannah) Romens; twenty-one great-grandchildren; his siblings, Jim Dimick, Marilyn Hypse, John Noble, Dennis Thompson; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Florence (Fornell) Dimick; siblings, Dick (Ann) Dimick, Clarence (Marlene) Dimick, Nancy Dimick, Harold Hypse, Pat Noble, Priscilla Thompson; and a son-in-law, Peter Darkow.
A visitation for Dave will be held from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Monday, November 6, 2017, at Peace Lutheran Church, 124 S. Main St., Rosendale, WI, 54974.
A funeral service for Dave will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 6, 2017, at Peace Lutheran Church in Rosendale with Rev. Charles R. Thompson officiating. Full military honors will follow the service at the church. Inurnment will take place at Ebenezer Cemetery at a later date. A memorial in Dave's name is being established.
