Dan Robert Zimmerman, 65, of Rosendale, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 13, 2022. The youngest son of Richard and Jean (Welles) Zimmerman, Dan was born in Ripon, WI on May 28, 1957.
Dan graduated from Laconia High School in 1975, and furthered his education to graduate from the University of Wisconsin River Falls with a Bachelor of Science degree in Farm Management, Minor in Animal Science in 1979. He played football at River Falls and later went on to coach at Laconia High School with his brother James (Jim). He was an active community member throughout his life, having served 15 years on the Rosendale Brandon School Board, eight years as Church Council President of the United Church of Christ in Rosendale, and served seven years on the Board of Directors for Compeer Financials, among others. Like most farmers, Dan was a hard worker; he owned and operated Ever Green Growers Inc. with his brother, James (Jim) Zimmerman, mother, Jean (Welles) Zimmerman, and nephew, Aaron Zimmerman.
Dan is survived by his wife, Kelli Zimmerman of Rosendale, WI; mother, Jean (Welles) Zimmerman of Rosendale, WI; daughters: Nicole (Jonathan) Schubert of Culver, IN; Amanda (Joshua) Fuentes of Rosendale, WI; Carmen (Jon) Hetzel of Rosendale, WI; Kelly Zimmerman of Washington, D.C.; and their mother, Heidi Ford of Rosendale, WI; grandchildren: Theodore, Joseph, and Aria; step-children: Anna (Clayton) Bennett of Eldorado, WI; Jack (Brit) Romskog of Rosendale, WI; Sam (Adryana) Seering of West Allis, WI; step-grandchildren: Sophie, Ava, Jack, Waylon, Emma, Leighna, Josie, and Nila; siblings: Dennis (Simone) Zimmerman, David (Camille) Zimmerman, Susan (Weldon) Peterson, Cathlyn (John) Morrell, James (Frances) Zimmerman; and many other close friends and relatives. Dan is preceded in death by his father, Richard Zimmerman.
Dan married Kelli on December 26, 2010, at the United Church of Christ in Rosendale, WI. Together they enjoyed traveling across the U.S. and abroad; they recently delighted in a trip to Norway, Sweden, and Denmark; a trip on which he had always promised to take Kelli. Dan was a devoted son, friend, and community member and would do anything for anyone. Often known as the life of the party, Dan was a master of the grill and loved to entertain. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Packers.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022 from 10:00 am until 1:30 pm at the United Church of Christ, 204 Division St., Rosendale, WI 54974.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 18, 2022 at the United Church of Christ, officiated by Reverend Wesley Wassell. The service will be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend or if the church is at capacity: https://youtu.be/mFiyj6zoSwE
A burial will follow the service at the Rosendale Cemetery in Rosendale, WI. Refreshments to follow at the church. A memorial is being established in his name.
