Dan Baker

August 16, 1934 — July 10, 2019

Dan Louis Baker, age 84, of Ripon, WI, formerly of Sheridan, WY, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at his daughter’s home with family by his side.

Dan was born August 16, 1934, in McBain, MI, the son of Earl and Mary (Van Metter) Baker. Dan came to Wisconsin at 17 years old to work for Schulz’s Honey Farm. He went into the United States Marines in 1953. Dan was released from the military and went back to Schulz Honey Farm and he also worked as a beekeeper upon moving to Missouri. In Missouri he left bee keeping and owned a coal yard and cut firewood, pulp wood, and logs. Dan worked as a logger in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming for several years.

Survivors include three daughters, Sue (Kevin) Brown of Ripon, WI, Joyce Evans of Pensacola, FL and Wanda (Dan) McMahon of Phoenix, AZ; Step-Children: Yvonne Darnell and Kim Podgornik both of Sheridan, WY, Bruce Link of Ripon, WI, Michael Link and Billy Krueger both of Buffalo, WY; Grandchildren: Damnond Bulson of Kenosha, WI, John Finch of Fredonia, WI, Stewart Schumacher of Pickett, WI and Robyn Hardy of Milton, FL and Brad Evans of Phoenix, AZ; Great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Tyler, Louis, Lily, Cailyn, Mya and Alex. He has one sister Dolly (Dan) Culver of San Diego, CA. Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Karen and Mary Baker.

Visitation for Dan will be held on Friday, July 19, 2019, from 9 – 11:00 am at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971.

A time of remembrance for Dan will be held on Friday, July 19, 2019, at 11:00 am at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. A pot-luck lunch will follow at the home of Kevin and Sue Brown, N9018 County E Ripon. A memorial is being established in his name.
