Dale Retzlaff

Dale L. Retzlaff, age 58, of Appleton, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 10, 2019 in Appleton.

Dale was born Ripon, WI on August 20, 1960, the son of Arnold and Betty Lou (Siewert) Retzlaff. He graduated from Ripon High School in 1979 and went on to earn a business degree at Moraine Park Technical College. Dale was an Eagle Scout who also earned the God and Country Award. He worked his whole life in the building industry starting at Schmitt Lumber in Ripon to most recently Wisconsin Building Supply as a truss designer. His passion and pride was his work. Dale loved using his hands to design, build and construct almost anything. If it was going to be built right, Dale had the knowledge to build it. Although Dale never had children of his own he loved his nieces and nephews unconditionally. He also had pets he held close to his heart as his own children, most notably Buddy and Otis. For anyone blessed to know Dale knew the huge heart and unselfish willingness to give of himself to others.

Dale is survived by his sister, Linda (Dennis) Towne of Ripon, WI; brothers, Douglas (LeighAnn) Retzlaff of Palmetto, FL, David Retzlaff of Ripon, WI, Duane (Judy) Retzlaff of Appleton, WI and Dean (Lisa) Retzlaff of Fond du Lac, WI; special aunt and uncle, Larry (Delores) Retzlaff; nieces, Tanya (Todd) O'Connor, Samantha and Katie Retzlaff; nephews, Douglas Retzlaff, Jr., Dakin (Lisa) Retzlaff, Eric (Heather) Towne, and Kyle Retzlaff; great nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Betty Lou Retzlaff and his grandmother, Edna Siewert.

There will be a private family visitation and memorial service for Dale on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Our Saviour's United Church of Christ in Ripon, with Reverend Wesley Wassell officiating. Inurnment will take place at Liberty Prairie Cemetery, Town of Utica, WI. A memorial is being established in Dale's name.
