Clair M. Kaatz

Clair M. Kaatz, age 83, of Green Lake, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Juliette Manor in Berlin, WI.

Clair was born on March 22, 1943 in Ripon, WI, son of Milan and Adeline (Messerschmidt) Kaatz. He graduated from Green Lake High School. On May 9, 1964 he married Janice “Jan” Wuerch at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Markesan, WI. Clair worked as a dispatcher for Green Lake Ready Mix for many years, and later drove truck for Buckstaff Furniture Company in Oshkosh for about 10 years. In his free time, Clair stayed very active and loved spending time outside. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and water skiing, camping, and was an avid runner, often running 50 - 70 miles a week. His crowning achievement was qualifying for and running the Boston Marathon. Clair cherished time with his family, especially his three grandchildren. He was a devoted member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Princeton.

Clair is survived by his wife, Jan Kaatz; a son, Jason (Erika) Kaatz; three grandchildren, Evan, Britney, and Jack; and several nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milan and Adeline Kaatz; and a sister, Lorna (Roger) Silbaugh.

Visitation for Clair will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10:00 until 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 226 S. Clinton St., Princeton, WI 54968.

Memorial service for Clair will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Princeton, with Pastor Philip Schupmann officiating. Inurnment will take place at Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake. A memorial is being established in his name.
