Christine E. Dorsch, age 84, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Tower View Assisted Living in Rosendale, WI, with her family by her side.
Christine was born on April 15, 1942, in Edinburgh, Scotland, to the late Angus M. and Janet R. (Mackenzie) Robertson. She spent her formative years in Scotland, graduating from Trinity Academy in Edinburgh before pursuing higher education at Regent Road Technical College in Salford, UK.
Christine and Gordon (S. Dorsch) met in a pub in Edinburgh in 1964 where she went with her work friends and best friend Ann (Dow) along with Ian (Laurence), Anne’s boyfriend at the time. In 1966, Christine wed Gordon in Edinburgh with Anne as her maid of honor and Ian as Gordons best man. Anne and Ian were also married, and they have remained lifelong friends since. They lived in Edinburgh after marrying and then packed up their Mini station wagon and moved to Aberdeen (Scotland) when Gordon took a new job and then to Ellon (Northeast Scotland) where they purchased a home.
The couple settled in the Ripon/Rosendale area, where they raised their children. Besides being a stay-at-home mother, Christine also took on a part-time job as a waitress. She worked at a few restaurants in Ripon (Brauns Family Restaurant, Moxies, Republican House) and Green Lake (Carvers) where she was the waitress that everyone wanted. As the children got older Christine worked full time as a secretary for the Fond du Lac County District Attorney's Office and the Parks and Planning Office until her retirement.
Christine had a passion for gardening, and by taking classes through the Fond du Lac County Extension and Morain Park Technical College became a Master Gardener. As a passionate gardener, Christine volunteered with the Fond du Lac County Master Gardeners Association, utilizing her gardening expertise to educate others, making a positive impact and enhancing her community. Her love of gardening flourished not only in her own beautiful backyard but also through sharing her plants and knowledge with those she loved.
Christine and Gordon also volunteered at the Ripon and Fond du Lac County Food Pantries where they helped to prepare groceries for those that were in need.
Christine enjoyed visits to the fabric shops in Fond du Lac and searching for clothing pattens and fabrics to create her own clothing. She spent many a night or weekend at the sewing machine in the Kitchen or Dining Room adding to her wardrobe.
She also loved a good thriller novel and spent quite a bit of her free time reading them, usually with a cup of tea or coffee by her side. Memories of Stephen King novels on the coffee table come to mind.
Christine and Gordon also liked to spend their evenings and weekends, when not in the gardens, watching some good British television, usually a good crime mystery. Some of the shows included Doc Martin, Midsummer Murders, Vera and Keeping up Appearances.
Christine is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gordon; her three children, Gavin Dorsch (Jennifer Dudzinski), Julie Basel (Steven), and Andrew Dorsch (Kristen); five grandchildren, Ian Dorsch (Hannah), Nick Dorsch (Adrianna), Bella Specht (Drew), Alisha Van Den Berg (Terry), and Henry Dorsch; and her four great-grandchildren, Gwendolyn, Eloise, Evelyn, and Aria.
Christine also has Nieces and Nephews residing in Ireland (Kenneth), England (Elaine) and Sweden (David).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Angus and Janet Robertson; her brother, Ian Robertson; and her sister-in-law, Leslie Robertson whom resided in Scotland.
