Carol Meyer

January 29, 1931 — February 7, 2017

Carol Mae (Flugum) Meyer, 86, from Ripon, WI, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2017, at New Perspective Senior Living in Green Bay.

Carol was born in Milwaukee on January 29, 1931, the daughter of Alexander and Pearl (Mielke) Flugum. After graduating from Rufus King High School in Milwaukee, Carol graduated from North Central College in Naperville, IL. On July 4, 1953, she married Robert E. Meyer, whom she met in her church youth group in Milwaukee. Most of her life, Carol served as a homemaker while raising their 6 children.

Carol was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon for over 50 years. She played the piano and organ, sang in the choir, accompanied the choir, taught Bethel Bible, and was active in women’s groups. She also organized monthly sing-alongs at local nursing homes and served on several mission trips with Volunteers in Mission. Carol loved spending time with family at her cottage in northern Wisconsin.

She is survived by her 6 children and their spouses: Karen Schoenebeck of New Jersey, Nancy Hitz of Milwaukee, Bob (Sue) Meyer of Ripon, Steve Meyer of Green Lake, Laurie (Al) Dummer of Green Bay, and Tim Meyer of Thailand. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and their spouses: Casey (Robyn) Schoenebeck – Ashley and Aiden, Grant (Sarita) Schoenebeck – Moby and Mae, Alex Hitz – Kaylie, Kristin Hitz – Brody, Jason Hitz, Ben (Shannon) Dummer, Kayla (Luis Carlos) Alvarez, Ryan (Brooke) Dummer, and Adam Meyer. In addition to her parents, Carol is preceeded by her husband, Robert E. Meyer.

A visitation for Carol will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 401 E. Fond du Lac Street, Ripon, WI, 54971.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017, with Reverend Michael Morning officiating. A luncheon will follow the service and interment will be at Garden of the Cross Cemetery, Ripon.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff at New Perspective Senior Living and Unity Hospice for providing Carol with exceptional, compassionate care. Carol was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
