Brenda Kay Kosmak, age 81, of Markesan, WI, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 17, 2026.
Brenda was born on November 17, 1944 in Bakersfield, CA, daughter of Lawrence and Maxine (Watson) Simon. In 1963, she graduated from Bellevue High School in Nebraska. After high school Brenda worked in the office at Flick Reedy. It was there she met the love of her life. On September 12, 1964, Brenda married Michael A. Kosmak in Elmhurst, IL. They lived in Elk Grove Village, IL, and Princeton, WI before moving to Markesan, WI.
Brenda always thought of others first and kept us all in her prayers. She was grateful for all she had and found joy in the simple things in life. Brenda loved to work in her yard, enjoying flowers and her beautiful view of the lake. She loved a good puzzle and playing dominoes with the family. She was the biggest fan of Allie and Anthony and being their Nana was no doubt her favorite way to spend time. Brenda enjoyed volunteering with the shoebox program at church for many years.
Brenda is survived by her son Michael (Michelle) Kosmak, grandchildren Allie and Anthony Kosmak, siblings Larry (Jackie) Simon, Vickie Brady and Dale Simon, brother-in-law Jerry Rotramel and further survived by many nieces and nephews in the Simon and Kosmak families.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, Michael; her parents, Lawrence and Maxine Simon; sister Gloria Rotramel, sisters-in-law Lois Simon and Gloria Connolly, brothers-in-law Gerald Brady and John Connolly, as well as Norman Peck.
Visitation for Brenda will be held from 9:30 until 11:00 am on Monday, August 17, 2026 at Terrace Shores Ev. Free Church, W3278 County Rd K, Markesan, WI 53946. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 11:00 am at the church, with Pastor Kyle Witek officiating, followed by a meal and time of fellowship.
