Bonita “Bonnie” Lee Briese Turney, age 70, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017, at her home in Ripon.
Bonnie was born June 2, 1947, in Ripon, WI, the daughter of Blaine “Bud” and Marilyn (Fortnum) Briese. She graduated from Ripon High School in 1965 and went on to cosmetology school. When Bonnie was young, she loved fishing with her dad. She worked at the Spot for her parents for many years in Ripon and as a hairdresser at Elaine’s, her aunt’s salon. In 1968, Bonnie married Bob Turney at First Congregational Church, UCC and had two children, Marcie and Evan. They moved to Indiana when Marcie was two years old. Bonnie served our country in the United States Army Reserves from 1976 to 1978. Evan was born in 1977, and shortly after they moved to Mountain Top, Pennsylvania. Bonnie was very involved with her children’s sports. She was a Soccer Coach and went to all her children’s sporting events. In 1988, Bonnie moved back to Ripon and worked at Sheltered Village and Juliette Manor while putting herself through nursing school. She had a love for watching the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed traveling to see her children and grandchildren, who she was very proud of. Bonnie loved buying and reading books to her grandchildren. She was a member of First Congregational Church, UCC in Ripon.
Survivors include her two children, Marcie (Val) Turney and Evan (Carla) Turney both of Philadelphia, PA; two grandsons, Blaine and Xaiver; sister, Barbie (Todd) Splittgaber of Ripon, WI and two brothers, Bobby (Tila) Briese of Mequon, WI and Bert (Amy) Briese of Ripon, WI. Bonnie is further survived by nieces and nephews, Adam, Cody and Kallin Splittgaber, Marina and Ethan Baumann, and Tyler and Amber Briese. Bonnie was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation for Bonnie will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017, from 1 – 3:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971.
Memorial Service for Bonnie will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 3:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon with Reverend Joanna D’Agostino officiating. A private inurnment will take place at Green Lake Center Cemetery in the Town of Green Lake at a later date. A memorial for Bonnie is being established in her name.
