Bettyann Manser

Bettyann B. Manser (Worthen), age 96, of Ripon, WI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at Maplecrest Manor in Ripon.

She was born March 29, 1922, to Martin and Aleda (Cowling) Worthen, graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1939, and earned her BA degree in 1943 from Oshkosh State Teachers College (now UW-O). On June 29, 1946, Bettyann and William C. Manser married and shared 34 years of happiness until his death in 1980.

Bettyann enjoyed being an active member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, the Women’s Guild, Lionesses, GLAREA (retired teachers) and volunteering at Ripon Hospital.

Bettyann is survived by her children, Kathy (David) Rattray and Wendy (James) Manser; her grandchildren, Andrea Vineyard, Jennifer Olive, Kelly Palese, and Jeremy (Erin) Palese; her eight great-grandchildren, Emily, Megan, Walker, Riley, Lily, Eliza, Cole, Justin; her sisters, Kay (Lee) Ambrose and Joan Worthen, and her sisters-in-law, Doris Donaldson and Nancy (Dick) Koeppen. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Jack Worthen.

Bettyann is fondly remembered by the generations of now-grown children she lovingly taught at elementary schools in Clintonville, Monroe, and Ripon until her retirement in 1984.

Visitation for Bettyann will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018, from 4 – 5:00 pm at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI 54971.

Funeral Service for Bettyann will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018, at 5:00 pm at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon with Reverend Dr. Kevin P. Mundell officiating. Interment will take place on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 9:30 am at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ for the Van Fund.
