Betty (Klawitter) Plath, age 91, of Fairwater, WI (more recently of Markesan Resident Home) passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
Betty was born on June 6, 1932 in Ripon, WI. She graduated from Princeton High School. Betty married Romie Plath on April 23, 1966.
Betty worked at Mercury Marine, and in 1981 they purchased Romie and Betty’s Bar of Fairwater, operating that until 1995. Betty was well known by all for her great food! After retiring from the bar she went on to work for Condon Oil in the Fairwater gas station until her final retirement when she turned 80 years young.
Betty loved to go to Las Vegas and loved to gamble. She had collections of figurines, chickens and roosters.
Leaving behind were her good friend, Gale (Edwin) Wiersma. They have always been there for Betty and Romie for the last 28 years taking her to doctor’s appointments, buying her beloved Ritz crackers, and decorating her room. She is further survived by two nieces, Vicki (Bret) Taplin and Jarelyn Rhode.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Romie; her parents, Matthew and Margaret (Lambert) Klawitter; her daughter, Ann Marie; siblings, Lorraine (Raymond) Jacobitz, Clifford Klawitter, Gordon Klawitter and Charles Klawitter; along with a niece, Jane Blanchard and a nephew, Wayne Jacobitz.
Betty loved the care she received at the Markesan Resident Home and would like to thank everyone there for taking such good care of her this past year and half. A special thank you to the Stellmacher family and the Laper family for always being there when Betty needed some help at the Bar, her trailer, or her vehicle. Thank you to James Sasada for helping with the lawn years ago, and Terri Broder for taking her to doctor’s appointments and being a friend to her.
There will be no service accordingly to Betty's wishes. Burial will be at the Kingston Cemetery next to her husband, Romie Plath.
