Bert Lemke

Bert Edward Lemke, age 77, of Ripon, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, peacefully at his home with family by his side after battling lung cancer.

Bert was born on April 27, 1939, to Bert Sr. and Blanche (Ingle) Lemke in Bessemer, MI. In 1961 he married Bonnie Peppenger in Superior, WI. Bert graduated from Superior Central High School, and went on to serve our country in the U.S. Marines. He worked at the coal docks in Superior, then becoming a farmhand before working at Giddings and Lewis in Fond du Lac. He retired as a correctional officer for the state of WI, and also worked at Blumkes and Ace Hardware.

Bert is survived by his wife; children: Victoria (Andy) Gould of Antigo, WI, John Lemke of Solon Springs, WI, Michael Lemke of LaCrosse, WI, Robert (Mari) Lemke of Lyons, OR; grandchildren: Michael, Rhonda, Matthew, Karyn, Robert, Todd, Harley, Xavier; great-grandchildren: Riley, Keaton, Storm, Ella; sisters, Darlene and Donna; a brother, Arthur (Butch); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David and Duane; and grandparents, Willis and Louise Ingle and Frank and Clara Lemke.

Per Bert’s wishes there will be no funeral service. Any memorials may be sent to Green Lake Animal Shelter, N6217 Busse Rd, Green Lake, WI, 54941, in Bert’s name. His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Green Lake Agnesian Hospice Hope.
